Fitzwater Cafe has earned its reputation by serving hearty, satisfying dishes that balance nostalgic comfort with fresh, vibrant flavors.
The culinary offerings here center around classic American breakfast and brunch staples, delivered with a distinct flair. Signature dishes like the Breakfast Burrito and Creme Brulee French Toast entice guests with their harmonious blend of textures and rich flavors. Meanwhile, the Creme Brulee French Toast tantalizes with a delicate caramelized crust that gives way to a luscious, creamy interior—every bite a blissful contrast of crisp and velvety softness.
For those seeking savory indulgence, options such as the Classic Eggs Benedict and Bella Vista Frittata showcase the kitchen’s mastery over eggs, balancing fluffy whites and creamy yolks with fresh herbs and artisanal breads. The Bella Vista Frittata, in particular, stands out with its blend of seasonal vegetables and cheeses, making it a satisfying and wholesome choice.
Fitzwater Cafe also delights coffee lovers with expertly brewed espresso drinks like their silky Cappuccino and the refreshingly smooth Vanilla Iced Brew, which has earned praise for its subtle sweetness and bold, clean finish. Paired with a side of blueberry pancakes or a breakfast sandwich, the cafe’s coffee offers that perfect morning boost.

The communal vibe echoes the spirit of South Philly—genuine, unpretentious, and full of heart.
Customer reviews speak volumes about Fitzwater Cafe’s consistent appeal. One diner raved about experiencing their “best breakfast brunch ever” with food served hot and quickly, highlighting the “great breakfast burrito” and “perfect” coffee. Another stressed that though the wait can be around 15-20 minutes and that the cafe operates a cash-only policy, the “pleasant staff and patrons” and the impeccable “strawberry crunch waffle with scrambled eggs” made the visit utterly worthwhile. While some have noted the automatic 20% gratuity on larger parties, the quality and portion sizes of the flavorful dishes more than compensate.
Whether you’re craving a decadent stack of Banana Nutella French Toast, a savory Chicken Cutlet Italiano, or a fresh and vibrant Tuna BLTA with Avocado, Fitzwater Cafe delivers a memorable and authentic taste of Philadelphia’s vibrant breakfast scene. Its blend of classic charm, thoughtful service, and thoughtfully prepared dishes ensures that every visit feels like a special occasion.
For locals and visitors dreaming of the perfect morning meal, Fitzwater Cafe is more than just a spot to eat—it’s a celebration of community, comfort, and culinary excellence in South Philly.
We try new places about every 2 weeks. Today , Fitzwater Cafe vaulted to #1. It was that good from old school South Philly decor (ceilings and floors) , charm , and ambiance but more important presentation and taste of our brunch. We had the Chicken Cutlet Burrata , Bella Vista Frittata , Vanilla ice brew , a wonderful fruit concoction drink , and coffee. All were very good to excellent. We highly recommend this experience.
the wait time for a table was around 15-20 minutes on a Tuesday, the food made up for it with tasty dishes served in right portions. However, the service was inconsistent, depending on which server you got. One notable downside was the automatic 20% tip charged for parties of four or more, which felt a bit steep given the varying service quality. Overall, while the food was satisfying, the service and pricing policy left something to be desired.
We just had the best Breakfast Brunch ever here . It’s a cute cafe in Queen Village , with indoor and outdoor seating in a quiet little neighborhood. The staff was very attentive , service was fast and hot, and the food was perfect. I had a great breakfast burrito and my wife had egg whites w spinach and feta, both of which were served hot and quick. The coffee was great , and the potatoes were hot and crispy like we asked for.
I had a party of two. Arrived there at around lunchtime. The wait was about 15 to 20 mins. They only accept cash. There's a sign posted as soon as you walk in. The staff and patron are really pleasant. I ordered the strawberry crunch waffle with scrambled eggs. I must say it was 10/10. I'd definitely recommend and get it again. My wife ordered pancakes, scrambled eggs, and home fries. 8/10 only because the pancakes tasted like they came out of a frozen box and not made from scratch. Overall, it was truly a great place and will definitely be going back.
One of the best well known breakfast spots in Philly, worth the wait, worth the cash only. Prices are just low food is just great and the restaurant is adorable. In my opinion, the best breakfast maybe tied with Alice and Morning Glory We ordered the strawberry crunch pancakes, crab cakes and English muffin, and breakfast borrico *chef’s kiss*
GLUTEN FREE FRENCH TOAST AVAILABLE! Was not indicated on the menu as far as I could tell, but just ask! Very lovely staff, great food, and wonderful vibes. Latte was a bit burnt, but otherwise no complaints.
I love every bit of my experience and the food was to die for. Creme Burlee French was amazing! My husband enjoyed his avocado French toast as well. Definitely will be back.
